Tracking Joy

Go for a walk. Eat a Popsicle. Stick your head in the freezer.
These are all viable and desirable ways to spend the dog days of summer.

What's not appealing? Figuring out what to do about your #distressingwork. Whether you are recovering from a recent layoff or unhappily stuck in a job or career that is too small or too toxic, it's hard to take action in the summer.

But you still need to figure it out. And soon. How long can you keep going with being awake half the night? Biting your nails to the quick? Stress eating chocolate chip cookie dough?

So what CAN you do while sweating through your second (third?) shirt of the day? When your brain has slowed to the speed of molasses?

You can track your joy.
Yes you heard/read me right.

Joy. Contentment. Flow.

These are all key components to knowing what you want and need - especially after 40. They are also important aspects to recovering from toxic work experiences.

How can you know where you want to go next if you don't know what feeds your heart?

I know many of you feel you can't stop the job hunt - scorching temperatures be damned. I see you.

Just remember to also feed your joy.
