Own Your Career Journey

I am the only judge and jury of my career story. So are you.

Recently I met with a fellow professional woman over 40 who left her last job due to a #toxicwork situation and is now facing the challenge of finding a new fit that is better than the last.

She was stressed at the thought of what people would think of her story. Would the recruiter respond with disdain? Would meeting her needs for safety at the last job prevent her from moving forward to get a new one? Would a hiring manager think less of her for taking a break?

I'm guessing what she is really worried about is rejection. Most of us are.

What if you decided no one else's opinion on your life matters but YOURS?

What would be possible?

How about full CONFIDENCE in declaring your reality?
And no need for approval from others.

No one needs to apologize for living their life the way they need and want.

Next time someone asks you about your career journey, OWN it.

You don't owe anyone a defense. Your energy will come through your responses. Your audience - recruiter, networking contact, hiring manager - will accept whatever you feel good about.

Let me know how this approach works!
